As the calendar flips to 2026, we find ourselves doing what we do best—looking ahead to the road. The new year always feels like a reset for us, a chance to map out miles, maintenance, memories, and meaningful stops along the way. This year’s plans are a mix of necessity, routine, and a whole lot of adventure.
Florida to Pennsylvania: Taking Care of Business
Our year kicks off with a familiar journey north from Florida to Pennsylvania. While this leg of the trip isn’t about sightseeing alone, it’s an important part of staying healthy and road-ready. We’ll be scheduling our annual physicals and making sure everything checks out on the medical front.
Of course, it’s not just about us. Our three dogs—Khaleesi, Maximus, and Tia—will also be getting their veterinarian checkups. Life on the road means being proactive, and keeping everyone healthy (two-legged and four-legged) is non-negotiable for full-time RV living.
Even when the purpose is practical, we’ve learned there’s always something special about revisiting familiar places, catching up with people we love, and soaking in the changing scenery as winter slowly gives way to spring.
Heading Back to North Dakota: Sugar Beet Harvest Round Two
Once Pennsylvania is checked off the list, we’ll point the RV toward North Dakota for the second time to work the sugar beet harvest. Returning for another season feels a little different—in the best way. We know what to expect, we know how demanding the work can be, and we know how rewarding it is at the same time.
There’s something grounding about seasonal work on the road. It gives structure to our travels, a sense of community, and the opportunity to experience a part of the country many people never see beyond a flyover. North Dakota surprised us the first time, and we’re looking forward to reconnecting with familiar faces and routines.
Chasing the Last Three States
Tucked into our 2026 plans is a big personal goal: visiting the final three states we haven’t yet explored in the contiguous United States—West Virginia, Kentucky, and Tennessee.
These states have been on our list for a long time, and we’re excited to finally make them a reality. From mountain roads and scenic overlooks to small towns, music, history, and local food, we’re hoping to slow down and truly experience each one rather than just passing through.
Crossing these off the list isn’t just about completion—it’s about appreciation. Every state has its own rhythm, and we can’t wait to share what we discover along the way.
Looking Ahead
Entering 2026 feels equal parts exciting and intentional. This year is about balance—taking care of our health, putting in hard work, and continuing to chase the experiences that made us choose this lifestyle in the first place.
As always, we’re grateful to bring you along for the journey. Here’s to new roads, familiar routes, unfinished checklists, and the freedom to keep moving forward—together.
See you down the road,
Matt & Dave
